The Presumption of Innocence

Three thoughts come to mind when I learn about someone falsely declared innocent of a crime in our legal system. First, the legal system is biased toward the presumption of innocence.[1]  In reaction to past abuses of the monarchical rule of law, modern civilized societies prefer, on average, to  legally declare “innocent” some truly guilty individuals (false negative) in exchange of not erring the verdict on truly innocent individuals (true positive).  I’ve addressed the applicable rules of “sensitivity and specificity,” as practiced in screening and diagnosing diseases, in another post (Spiritual Discernment).

Second, according to Master DK, the legal profession is in need of reorientation “for the purpose of world usefulness.”[2] He mentions this in the context of legislation for children, but it could be argued that the current corruption of the legal system requires a reorientation toward the TRUTH. Children must be educated to honor the truth in everything, including their own behavior. It is simply ethically wrong to claim innocence about a wrongdoing that you actually did just because you have the legal right to claim innocence until proven otherwise. Children must be taught that it is their civic duty to honor the truth of the facts, even if self-incriminatory.

Third, in the “near” future (as measured in the time frame of the spiritual Hierarchy), people won’t be able to claim innocence when they are actually guilty.  We are told,”the growth of telepathic registration and of the psychic powers such as clairvoyance and clairaudience will eventually tend to strip humanity of the privacy in which to sin”.[3] This development will revolutionize the practice of law (and medicine, which is the context of Master DK’s prophecy).

So, when I hear that the unfit-for-office but de jure president of the minority who elected him (in the irregular 2016 presidential election in the USA) has been declared innocent of obstruction of justice (a “high crime and misdemeanor”) by his conflicted Cabinet appointee, and that the special Counsel in charge of investigating the facts (and we still need to learn ALL the factual evidence discovered by the Counsel), in strict adherence to the rules of the legal system, could not find legally prosecutable evidence to charge him of colluding with a foreign power to defeat his opponent, while all public facts bear evidence to the contrary, I’m reminded of the need to reorient our legal system to honor the truth, and the responsibility of any wrongdoer to acknowledge his or her misdeed as a civic duty.

For democracy to work as intended, it must be freed from the corruption of self-interest, as in legally permissible lying. For democracy to work as needed for the externalization of the spiritual Hierarchy, the legal system needs to be reoriented toward a culture of truth, regardless of any technicality about the legal rules of evidence.

The war against the truth must end. The truth will prevail. The truth will set us free.

[1] The presumption of innocence is the legal principle that one is considered innocent unless proven guilty. It was traditionally expressed by the Latin maxim ei incumbit probatio qui dicit, non qui negat (“the burden of proof is on the one who declares, not on one who denies”).

In many states, presumption of innocence is a legal right of the accused in a criminal trial, and it is an international human right under the UN’s Universal Declaration of Human Rights, Article 11. Under the presumption of innocence, the legal burden of proof is thus on the prosecution, which must collect and present compelling evidence to the trier of fact. The trier of fact (a judge or a jury) is thus restrained and ordered by law to consider only actual evidence and testimony presented in court. The prosecution must, in most cases prove that the accused is guilty beyond reasonable doubt. If reasonable doubt remains, the accused must be acquitted.

[2] A certain relationship or configuration of stars—of which one is the star Regulus, in Leo—will bring about a situation wherein the re-orientation of the attitude of the legal profession will take place; its functions and duties will be centralised for the purpose of world usefulness, and in this process legislation for children will assume great importance and be the motivating power. This legal step will be primarily advocated by Russia and endorsed by the United States of America. Before 2035 A.D. such legislation will be universal in its sphere of influence and control. –Esoteric Astrology by AAB-DK (p. 238)

[3] Another reason which will bring about the cessation of those practises and modes of living and desiring which account for these diseases is one little recognised as yet; it was referred to by the Christ when He spoke of the time when nothing secret would remain hidden and when all secrets would be shouted aloud from the housetops. The growth of telepathic registration and of the psychic powers such as clairvoyance and clairaudience will eventually tend to strip humanity of the privacy in which to sin. The powers whereby the Masters and the higher initiates can ascertain the psychic state and physical condition of humanity, its quality and consciousness, are already beginning to show [Page 237] themselves in advanced humanity. People will sin, commit evil deeds and satisfy inordinate desire, but they will be known to their fellowmen and nothing that they do will be carried out in secret. Some one or some group will be aware of the tendencies in the life of a man, and even of the incidents in which he satisfies some demand of his lower nature, and the fact of this possibility will act as a great deterrent—a far greater deterrent than you can imagine. Man is indeed his brother’s keeper, and the keeping will take the form of knowledge and of “boycott and sanctions”—as it is called today in reference to the penalising of nations. I would have you ponder on these two modes of treating wrong doing. They will be practically automatically applied as a matter of good taste, right feeling and helpful intention by individuals and groups to other individuals and groups, and in this way crime and the tendency to evil doing will gradually be stamped out. It will be realised that all crime is founded upon some form of disease, or upon a glandular lack or overstimulation, based in turn upon the development or the underdevelopment of some one or other of the centres. An enlightened public opinion—informed as to man’s constitution and aware of the great Law of Cause and Effect—will deal with the criminal through medical means, right environmental conditions, and the penalties of boycott and sanctions. I have no time to enlarge upon these matters, but these suggestions will give you food for thought. -Esoteric Healing by AAB-DK

How to Understand the End of the Mueller Investigation (Hint: You Can’t Yet)

By Benjamin Wittes

Saturday, March 23, 2019, 7:46 PM

As a general matter, declinations fall into three broad categories: factual declinations, legal declinations, and prudential declinations. These overlap to some degree, and the distinctions here are thus somewhat artificial—though I hope still useful. A declination for factual reasons could be based on a finding of actual innocence—as discussed above—or a finding that the evidence, though compelling, is not adequate for prosecution. How much of a vindication or how politically damaging such a declination is depends entirely on the factual findings, about which we know nothing.

A declination for legal reasons is also preponderantly likely here, irrespective of the facts, at least as regards Trump himself. Indeed, we always knew that the investigation would not result in Trump’s indictment while he remained in office; that was never in doubt. For all the feverish discussion of the question of whether a president can or cannot be indicted, the Justice Department’s Office of Legal Counsel has a longstanding opinion on the matter that binds Mueller. There was never any chance that Mueller would defy this opinion. And there was thus never any chance either that Mueller would indict Trump while he remained in office. The result is that at least as regards the president himself, we cannot presume—as we normally would presume—that the investigation’s end means that the evidence is insufficient to bring charges. It might well mean that, and nobody should be surprised if it does. But it needn’t mean that.

There are other possibilities too. What if Mueller developed compelling evidence of presidential misconduct but that evidence does not map cleanly onto known criminal statutes? This could be the case on the collusion prong of the investigation, because knowingly and gleefully benefiting from a foreign power’s theft and disclosure of a political opponent’s emails isn’t, without more, a crime. And it could also be the case with respect to the obstruction component of the investigation, because the president has plausible arguments with respect to many of his obstructive acts that they are within his Article II powers.

There are also prudential factors that can lead to declinations—for example, the unwillingness to declassify material to bring a case. I have no reason to believe such factors are at work here. My point is simply that to say that Mueller is not recommending further charges does not tell you all that much unless you know why he’s not recommending further charges. Yes, it is possible that Mueller has concluded that the president is innocent, that there was “NO COLLUSION” and that there’s nothing to see here and we should all move on. But it’s also possible that he has concluded that the president is guilty as sin but he can’t prove this without outing a particular intelligence channel that NSA senior leadership would lie down in traffic to prevent him from discussing in court—and that even if he could blow that capability, the president can’t be indicted anyway and would have a good argument that his conduct was lawful. These scenarios are both consistent with Friday’s news.

The Crisis of American Conscience

Morality and Michael Cohen

By David Brooks

Normal people have moral sentiments. Normal people are repulsed when the president of their own nation lies, cheats, practices bigotry, allegedly pays off porn star mistresses.

Were Republican House members enthusiastic or morose as they decided to turn off their own moral circuits, when they decided to be monumentally unconcerned by the fact that their leader may be a moral cretin?

Do they think that having anesthetized their moral sense in this case they will simply turn it on again down the road? Having turned off their soul at work, do they think they will be able to turn it on again when they go home to the spouse and kids?

This is how moral corrosion happens. Supporting Trump requires daily acts of moral distancing, a process that means that after a few months you are tolerant of any corruption. You are morally numb to everything.

In “East of Eden,” John Steinbeck writes: “Humans are caught — in their lives, in their thoughts, in their hungers and ambitions, in their avarice and cruelty, and in their kindness and generosity too — in a net of good and evil. I think this is the only story we have and that it occurs on all levels of feeling and intelligence. Virtue and vice were warp and woof of our first consciousness, and they will be the fabric of our last. … A man, after he has brushed off the dust and chips of his life, will have left only the hard clean questions: was it good or was it evil? Have I done well — or ill.”

David, your outrage is understandable, even if its proximal cause isn’t and cannot be fully understood. But saying that excusing the behavior and subterfuge that is the hallmark of leadership these day is not normal isn’t quite accurate. Normal is a statistical term. And society grades on a curve. Normal ain’t what it used to be. Normal people are used to that. It’s sad, really.

@JustaHuman You are assuming a unimodal statistical distribution. But there are at least two frequency distributions mixed. A bimodal curve is not normal, I agree.

The normal curve for good people remains as is, confounded by its mixture with the normal curve for bad people. At the end it’s a simple binary choice, good or evil, as Mr. Brooks correctly states.

On Peace and Dialogue

Two commonly misused, and abused, terms are peace and dialogue.

Peace can be described as the end result of a process of synthesis of opposites which inevitably involves dialogue. Why, then, isn’t dialogue always conducive to peace?

Definition of dialogue

a : a conversation between two or more persons
b : an exchange of ideas and opinions
c : a discussion between representatives of parties to a conflict that is aimed at resolution

Conflict resolution is a method for two or more parties to find a peaceful solution to a disagreement among them.

Peace is a synthetic solution to a conflict. For any synthesis to occur in Nature, three factors must always operate. These factors may be labeled in different ways by different people. I label them as Power, Love and Intelligence.

Conflict resolution skills are the intelligent way to address conflicts. Dialogue, related to love as a science of relationships, not as an emotion, is an essential component of this tool set. Both conflict resolution skills and dialogue are necessary but neither is sufficient to achieve peace.

The balance of power between the opposing parties is the linchpin. If the wheels of dialogue are to make progress toward a peaceful solution to any disagreement, power must be balanced, not necessarily equal. The balance of power must be equal among siblings in conflict but must be balanced in any conflict between the more experienced parents and the less experienced children in procuring the common good. I call this adjustment to the balance of power the hierarchical factor.

When the balance of power predisposes one party to unfairly impose its will on the other, no peaceful solution is possible until power is surrendered, voluntarily or involuntarily, brokered by a mutually accepted mediator.

The failure of the United Nations as a world governance body is based on a flawed application of a hierarchical balance of power. True, much good has come out of the UN agencies related to education, culture and science. But the UN General Assembly is a good example of ineffective dialogue. And the UN Security Council serves as another good example of ineffective power brokerage. A veto power based on economic strength or military might is not a wise implementation of a hierarchical balance of power. Might does not make right.

The current political and humanitarian crisis in Venezuela serves to illustrate the misuse and abuse of the terms peace and dialogue. The authoritarian regime wants to buy time, again and again, by calling for dialogue in order to impose its conditions for peace, which means staying in power forever in a one party system, as in Cuba. The Vatican and the Organization of American States have attempted to mediate to no avail.  The authoritarian regime won’t allow for a peaceful transition of power even if the majority of the people demands it. The UN Security Council in powerless to resolve the impasse.

So, there are three possible outcomes. 1) The authoritarian regime stays in power forever, incarcerating the opposition without any need for dialogue. 2) The factions in conflict dialogue forever, as the humanitarian crisis worsens, and the authoritarian regime remains in power forever. 3) A military intervention, internal or external, to balance power.

An external military intervention in Venezuela could trigger a revolutionary reaction spreading to other countries, initially Colombia, reenacting the guerrilla warfare attempting to export the Cuban revolution in South America in the 1960s. In fact, Maduro has promised another Vietnam in South America if the US military intervenes.

An internal military revolt seems the only viable option to balance power, restore democracy and conduct free and fair elections in Venezuela. However, the Venezuelan military leadership has been corrupted by the Maduro regime.

A new military leadership must emerge, from the bottom up, to enforce the rule of law and a constitutional democracy of the people, by the people and for the people of Venezuela, with the prudent assistance of the international community.  In the meantime, the humanitarian crisis gets worse by the day and the clowns at the UN Security Council keep performing their acts for the entertainment of the spectators.

On Bridges and Walls

A bridge is a good metaphor for the constructive work of the New Group of World Servers.

World Servers are bridge builders; their adversaries, such as Trump, Putin, Maduro and Netanyahu, destroy and block them, building walls instead.

Other Walls

Matthew Parris, who coined that “Death Star” description, didn’t stop there. According to Parris, May is a “political black hole from which nothing escapes. Ideas, beliefs, suggestions, objections, inquiries, proposals, projects, loyalties, affections, trust, whole careers, real men and women are sucked into that awful void that is Downing Street”.

May delays Brexit vote as UK political turmoil persists

British prime minister Theresa May has admitted she will not get a new Brexit proposal in time for MPs to hold a “meaningful vote” this week, amid warnings time is running out for an agreement before Britain leaves the European Union.

Mrs May on Sunday delayed the vote until March 12th, 17 days before Britain is to leave the EU, as her ministers threatened to take control of the exit timetable.

All political incumbents enjoy the advantage of inertia against their challengers. The power of light (truth) must always challenge the inertia of darkness (i.e., the good we should have left behind).

Populism spreading ‘like leprosy’

The French and Italian relationship has deteriorated markedly since the formation of the Italian coalition government in June 2018.

French President Emmanuel Macron is also at odds with the Italian government’s other coalition deputy, Matteo Salvini who heads the right-wing Lega party.

Macron was sharply critical when Salvini blocked ports to prevent the landing of a stranded migrant ship and has previously said that populism in Europe was spreading like “leprosy,” a comment seized on by Rome as a direct insult.

In January, at the height of Gilet Jaunes protests, Salvini said he hoped the French people would soon be able to “free themselves of a terrible president,” encouraging voters to favor French far-right politician Marine Le Pen.

The petulance has even spread to a major doubt over whether Italy will loan France some works by the artist Leonardo Da Vinci for a commemorative exhibition. Da Vinci, an Italian, moved to France where he died.

Venezuela Today

2 Killed at Venezuela Border as Aid Standoff Heads to Critical Moment

The showdown turned deadly when security forces fired on protesters near the country’s Brazilian border.

A confrontation loomed on Saturday, when Venezuela’s opposition, led by Juan Guaidó, vowed to deliver tons of humanitarian aid against the orders of President Nicolás Maduro.

https://www.nytimes.com/2019/02/22/world/americas/brazil-venezuela-border-shooting.html

Today is an important day for Venezuela and for the Americas. Many have been waiting for this Day of Liberation for quite some time.

All conflicts have two sides, so they say.  Not so when the Allied Forces defeated the Axis Nations in WWII. Not so when the Berlin Wall fell. It was not a partisan conflict then, and it is not now in Venezuela, but a decision between the liberating good and the enslaving evil.

Today another wall may begin to crack:  the Havana Wall of Totalitarianism in Latin America. The humanitarian crisis, acute as it is,  is the outer expression of a deeper cleavage dividing the Americas in an ideological conflict, remnant of the Cold War.

It’s quite unfortunate that the corrupt Trump administration has been allowed to take the lead in forcing a resolution of the Venezuelan political crisis. Neither the Church nor the political left in Latin America have been able to face the challenge. Still, do not believe the propaganda coming from Russia, even if advocated by esoteric students, particularly those supporting Assad in Syria.

The truth is quite simple: the people of Venezuela expressed their will at the latest parliamentary election and it has been thwarted by the authoritarian Maduro regime, backed by China and Russia.  In 2015, the opposition won a 2/3 majority in the National Assembly. It was subsequently nullified by a corrupt judiciary controlled by Maduro. Having finished his presidential term in office without holding free and fair election, the National Assembly, acting in accordance to the Constitution, appointed an acting President to enable a fair election validated by the international community. It is as simple as that.

The vast majority of the Venezuelan people, and almost all the democratic countries of the world, support the restitution of democracy in Venezuela. The corrupt Venezuelan military leadership is the only remaining impediment for a peaceful transition to democracy in Venezuela. They are the ones holding the key to prevent a bloody outcome to this conflict.

Do not believe the hypocritical calls for peace and dialogue from Maduro.

These two words have been abused and devalued by the Maduro regime, remotely controlled from Havana to protect its oil interests in Venezuela. Once Venezuela falls, Cuba will follow suit.

The esoteric community must not be divided over issues amenable to spiritual discernment. It’s not a matter of partisan politics, left (Maduro) or right (Trump); it’s about discerning the good that should be left behind as humanity strives toward its freedom: the freedom of speech, the freedom of religion, freedom from want and freedom from fear.

A  new era of peace for the Americas is possible. The externalization of the planetary spiritual Hierarchy and the reappearance of the Christ would not be possible until a minimum of social justice, freedom and peace is restored in Venezuela, in the Americas and throughout the whole world.

Trump, May and Maduro comprise a Triangle of Unreason in current world affairs. Putin is implicated in each vertex of the triangle fostering disunity as part of a renewed cold war attempting to disintegrate Europe and the Americas (the Pan American ideal).

The other Lodge also works in triangles, triangles of darkness and hatred. They must be neutralized. Only the Will-to-Good emanating from Shamballa can accomplish this.

The humanitarian crises, looming in the UK and already factual in Venezuela, are just the effect of deeper causes. We must work to mitigate the effects, and also work to negate, prevent and destroy the root causes of the problems of humanity, among them the underlying root cause: self-interest, individual and national, the original sin of humankind.

The Leo Aquarius axis is the perfect time to address the transition from mass to individual to group consciousness. JB

The Secret Destiny of America

By Manley P. Hall

A description of the lost Atlantis was written by Plato; it introduces the league formed by the ten benevolent kings who ruled over the lesser nations and the three great continents of Europe, Asia, and Africa; and who bound themselves by oath to obey the divine laws of enduring empire…. This was the philosophic democracy, with all men having the right to become wise through self-discipline and self-improvement, thus achieving the only aristocracy recognized by Natural Law. … The Atlantis story continues to the later decision of the kings to use their united power to enslave all the peoples of the earth, and the consequent destruction of Atlantis by earthquake and fire ….interpreted politically, it is the story of the breaking up of the ideal pattern of government.

Plato, it must be remembered, was a monarchist by philosophic conviction, but his ideal king was the wise man perfect in the virtues and the natural ruler of those less informed than himself. This king was the father of his people, impersonal and unselfish, dedicated to the public good, a servant of both the gods and his fellow men. This king was descended of a divine race; that is, he belonged to the Order of the Illumined; for those who come to a state of wisdom then belong to the family of the heroes— perfected human beings.

Plato’s monarchy was therefore a philosophic democracy; for all men had the right to become wise through self-discipline and self-improvement. One who achieved this state was by virtue of his own action a superior man, and this superiority was the only aristocracy recognized by Natural Law.

… a democracy of wise men.

… it would be a serious misfortune for the aristocracy of wealth to be challenged by the aristocracy of learning!

The remedial action required is no more than for men to set aside in some selected part of the earth an area to be kept apart from all strife and struggle, and establish this as the common repository of the treasures of essential learning. On an island distant from strategic military objectives could be built a city of art, libraries, museums, universities, laboratories, and observatories. These institutions could be united as one great structure, a school over all schools, the city to become the capital of the intellectual empire. It might appropriately be named Platonopolis, to honor the great man who first conceived the idea of the commonwealth of learning.

In times of stress or danger each nation could send to this community those of its citizens whose mental excellence would entitle them to a world citizenship. Here, protected from all outside interference, they would be allowed to continue the various works of their individual lives for the enrichment of their own time and future ages, their progressed knowledge becoming the common property of all men, regardless of race or nation.

It is safe to predict that such a philosophers’ city would ultimately be the most practical and certain instrument for accomplishing a world point of view in all departments of human thinking. The international nation— the dream of the future which has been inspired by the terror of modern warfare— would have its natural beginning in a union of superior intellects. Art knows no race; music is a common denominator; biology and physics are served by explorers into the furthermost and innermost secrets of nature. When we recognize that the poet, the scholar, and the savant are indeed a race inhabiting the suburbs of a superior world, that they are the noblest of our creatures, we can know that we honor ourselves most by honoring them.

Here lies the solution to the great educational reform so necessary at this time. We can not hope to build a nobility of man upon the sterility of a narrow, competitive, materialistic educational policy. The ignorance of man has been his undoing. Only wisdom can restore him to his divine estate.

For more than three thousand years, secret societies have labored to create the background of knowledge necessary to the establishment of an enlightened democracy among the nations of the world … The Creek Dionysians were social and political temple builders, known as the Collegians in later Rome. … The rise of the Christian Church brought persecution of the classical intellectual pattern’s ideology, driving the guilds into greater secrecy; but all have continued searching for human happiness under a variety of rituals and symbols; and they still exist, as the Order of the Quest.

The Mayan Empire was the highest civilization to be developed in the Americas. Also, it was the first great democratic State on a continent curiously set aside for the perfection of the dream of democracy.

The high civilization attained by the Mayas was due primarily to the laws given them by Quetzalcoatl. So long as they obeyed these laws they continued to prosper. Unfortunately we have no complete record of their legal codes, but we do know a few of the outstanding principles which lay at the root of their State.

The Mayan nation was a collective commonwealth living under an advanced form of socialized order. They possessed all goods in common, and shared equally in the benefits of their production. They possessed no money or monetary symbol of any kind; and it has been suggested that this lack of currency was in part responsible for their five hundred years of peace.

To them the wheel was the symbol of death, and they never developed any form of mechanized industry. Each gave a part of his goods to maintain the State, and this contribution was employed to build public buildings, parks, schools, and places of public sport.

There seems to have been no poverty, and little if any crime. No buildings have been found which suggest prisons or other places of confinement.

The Mayas were hospitable, kindly, gentle, and industrious; their cities were beautiful in every way; they were public spirited, well governed, and according to the order of their time, highly educated.

The religious temper of the people can be gathered from remnants that still survive. It is common to all the Indians of the Americas that religious intolerance is utterly beyond their comprehension. They look upon each man’s religion as his own particular belief, and if it suits his needs it deserves the respect of all other right- minded men.

Thus we see that the archetype for a generous and enlightened way of life is part of the American continent’s common inheritance.

It is well to note in passing that many of the simpler virtues practiced by the Mayas were shared by other tribes that inhabited North and South America. Although the North American Indians never achieved the high culture reached by the Mayas, all lived according to a democratic tradition. The members of all tribes took care of their aged, provided for the widowed and the fatherless, and severely punished in the rare instances when some tribesman attempted to exploit another. Tribal government was invested in a council of the older and the wiser, and all matters relating to the common good were submitted to them for arbitration and solution. Crime was almost unknown.

The first League of Nations was created among the Great Lakes Indians of the American North east. First, five tribes, and later seven, combined under the leadership of the brilliant Indian leader, Great Rabbit, whose life has descended to us in Longfellow’s poem, Hiawatha. The league of the seven nations was originally intended to be defensive, but also useful in settling inter-tribal disputes. It resulted from the simple discovery by aboriginal minds that one lived longer, more safely, and more happily if disputes among peoples were solved by arbitration rather than by open strife.

The Incas of Peru are second to the Mayas in the building of empire in America. Inca communities were also cooperative, and many of these villages still survive in the distant and less accessible high lands of the Andes. These were the only civilized communities in our land that never learned that there was a world depression beginning in 1929.

Rooted in the American continent is a long and distinguished tradition that points toward ability for leadership in the postwar world, along lines of cooperation and the international point of view.

The democracy established by thirteen colonies in 1776 was not the first American democracy. At least two thousand years before the coming of the white man, the spirit of human equality, human cooperation, and freedom of worship flourished here.

13 BACON’S SECRET SOCIETY IS SET UP IN AMERICA

Men bound by a secret oath to labor in the cause of world democracy decided that in the American colonies they would plant the roots of a new way of life. Brotherhoods were established to meet secretly, and they quietly and industriously conditioned America to its destiny for leadership in a free world. … Benjamin Franklin exercised an enormous psychological influence in Colonial politics as the appointed spokesman of the unknown philosophers; he did not make laws, but his words became law.

The French, the Dutch, and the English entered upon programs of establishing permanent settlements along the Atlantic seaboard. The English program was under the direction of Sir Francis Bacon, and it was his genius that gave purpose to the enterprise.

Bacon quickly realized that here in the new world was the proper environment for the accomplishment of his great dream, the establishment of the philosophic empire. It must be remembered that Bacon did not play a lone hand; he was the head of a secret society including in its membership the most brilliant intellectuals of his day. All these men were bound together by a common oath to labor in the cause of a world democracy. Bacon’s society of the unknown philosophers included men of high rank and broad influence. Together with Bacon, they devised the colonization scheme.

Bacon’s secret society was set up in America before the middle of the 17th Century. Bacon himself had given up all hope of bringing his dream to fruition in his own country, and he concentrated his attention upon rooting it in the new world. He made sure that the American colonists were thoroughly indoctrinated with the principles of religious tolerance, political democracy, and social equality. Through carefully appointed representatives, the machinery of democracy was set up at least a hundred years before the period of the Revolutionary War.

Bacon’s secret society membership was not limited to England; it was most powerful in Germany, in France, and in the Netherlands, and most of the leaders of European thought were involved in the vast pattern of his purpose. The mystic empire of the wise had no national boundaries and its citizenry was made up of men of good purpose in every land. The Alchemists, Cabalists, Mystics, and Rosicrucians were the incisive instruments of Bacon’s plan. Representatives of these groups migrated to the colonies at an early date and set up their organization in suitable places.

One example will indicate the trend. About 1690, the German Pietist theologian, Magistar Johannes Kelpius, sailed for America with a group of followers all of whom practiced mystical and esoteric rites. The Pietists settled in Pennsylvania and their clescendents still flourish in Lancaster county. Kelpius for some years lived as an Anchorite in a cave located in what is now Fairmount Park, Philadelphia. The Pietists brought with them the writings of the German mystic, Jacob Boehme, books on magic, astrology, alchemy, and the cabala. They had curious manuscripts illuminated with strange designs, and their principal text was called “An ABC Book for Young Students Studying in the College of the Holy Ghost.” The Pietists brought the order of the Mustard Seed, and the Order of the Woman in the Wilderness to the new world.

The early years of the 1 8th Century brought with them many changes in the social and political life of the American colonies. By this time most of the Atlantic seaboard was dominated by the English. Cities had sprung up, important trade flourished with the mother country, and the colonial atmosphere was in small counterpart that of the English countryside.

By this time most of the important secret societies of Europe were well represented in this country. The brotherhoods met in their rooms over inns and similar public buildings, practicing their ancient rituals exactly according to the fashion in Europe and England. These American organizations were branches under European sovereignty, with the members in the two hemispheres bound together with the strongest bonds of sympathy and understanding. The program that Bacon had outlined was working out according to schedule. Quietly and industriously, America was being conditioned for its destiny— leadership in a free world.

Any account of secret societies in America would have to include tribute to the man who has been called the “First American Gentleman”— Benjamin Franklin. Although Dr. Franklin was never the country’s President, nor a military general, he stands out as one of the most important figures in the struggle for American independence. Quiet, dignified, scholarly and gentle, Franklin foresaw a new goal for an ever changing world through the square bi-focal glasses of which he was the inventor.

Historians have never ceased to wonder at the enormous psychological influence which Franklin exercised in colonial politics. But up to the present day, few indeed are those who have realized that the source of his power lay in the secret societies to which he belonged and of which he was the appointed spokesman. Franklin was not a law maker, but his words became law. Beneath the homely wisdom which he circulated in his Almanac, under the pseudonym of Poor Richard, was a profundity of scientific and philosophic learning. He understood both the farmer and the philosopher, and could speak the languages of both.

When Benjamin Franklin went to France to be honored by the State, he was received too by the Lodge of Perfection, the most famous of all the French secret orders; and his name, written in his own fine hand, is in their record ledger, close to that of the Marquis de Lafayette.

Franklin spoke for the Order of the Quest, and most of the men who worked with him in the early days of the American Revolution were also members. The plan was working out, the New Atlantis was coming into being, in accordance with the program laid down by Francis Bacon a hundred and fifty years earlier.

The rise of American democracy was necessary to a world program. At the appointed hour, the freedom of man was publicly declared.

The combination of the Phoenix, the pyramid, and the all- seeing eye is more than chance or coincidence. There is nothing about the early struggles of the colonists to suggest such a selection to farmers, shopkeepers, and country gentlemen. There is only one possible origin for these symbols, and that is the secret societies which came to this country 150 years before the Revolutionary War. Most of the patriots who achieved American independence belonged to these societies, and derived their inspiration, courage, and high purpose from the ancient teaching. There can be no question that the great seal was directly inspired by these orders of the human Quest, and that it set forth the purpose far this nation as that purpose was seen and known to the Founding Fathers.

The monogram of the new Atlantis reveals this continent as set apart for the accomplishment of the great work— here is to arise the pyramid of human aspiration, the school of the secret sciences. Over this nation rules the supreme king, the Ever Living God. This nation is dedicated to the fulfillment of the Divine Will. To the degree that men realize this, and dedicate themselves and their works to this purpose, their land will flourish. To depart from the symbol of this high destiny is to be false to the great trust given as a priceless inheritance.

20 THE END OF THE QUEST

In America shall be erected a shrine to Universal Truth, as here arises the global democratic Commonwealth— the true wealth of all mankind, which is designed in the foundation that men shall abide together in peace and shall devote their energies to the common cause of discovery. … The power of man lies in his dreams, his visions, and his ideals. This has been the common vision of man’s necessity in the secret empire of the Brotherhood of the Quest, consecrated to fulfilling the destiny for which we in America were brought into being.

The supreme human purpose is the perfection of man. This must come first, and when this end has been achieved all good things will inevitably follow.

Only enlightened men can sustain enlightened leadership; only the wise can recognize and reward wisdom.

The half-truth is the most dangerous form of lie, because it can be defended in part by incontestable logic. Wherever the body of learning is broken up, the fragments become partial truths. We live in a day of partial truths; and until we remedy the condition we must suffer the inevitable consequences of division.

According to the Ancients, religion, philosophy, and science are the three parts of essential learning. Not one of these parts is capable if separated from the rest, of assuring the security of the human state. A government based upon one or even two of these parts must ultimately degenerate into a tyranny, either of men or of opinion.

Religion is the spiritual part of learning, philosophy the mental part, and the sciences, including the arts and crafts, the physical part. As man himself has a spiritual, mental, and physical nature, and all of these natures manifest in his daily living, he must become equally informed in all the parts of his nature if he is to be self-governing. “Unbalanced forces perish in the void,” declared a prophet of old; and this is true beyond possibility of dispute.

The Platonic commonwealth had as its true foundation the unity of learning. In the midst of the philosophic empire stands the school of the three-fold truth. Religion is the quest of truth by means of the mystical powers latent in the consciousness of man. Philosophy is the quest for truth by the extension of the intellectual powers toward the substance of reality. Science is the quest for truth by the study of the anatomy and the physiology of the body of truth, as it is revealed in the material creation.

These three, then, are the orders of the Quest. Together they can bring about the perfection of man through the discovery of the Plan for man.

One of the great secrets of antiquity was this realization of the unity of knowledge and the identity of the Quest in all the branches of learning. The great philosophers of the past were truly great because they approached the problem of life as priest-philosopher-scientist. The title “The Wise” is properly applied only to those in whose consciousness the unity of knowledge has been established as the pattern of the Quest.

When humanity willfully ignores the Universal laws which govern its destiny, Nature has devious ways of pressing home its lessons. Civilization after civilization has been built up by human courage and destroyed by human ignorance. We stand again on the threshold of a great decision. Once more the workings of time have revealed the weaknesses of our social structure. Once more we have come to a day of reckoning.

In the postwar world one of two courses lies before us. Either we will make the old mistakes again, and try to force our own concepts upon the Universe; or we will gather our strength for one heroic effort to put things right.

If we make the old mistakes we will be rewarded by the old pain. But if we make the new effort, we can set up imperishable footings and bestow as a heritage the beginnings of a better way of life. According to our choice the results will be inevitable, for Nature will never change her ways. Let us consider her ways and be wise.

Centuries ago, one of the secret masters of the Quest wrote: “The Eternal Good reveals its will and pleasure through the body of Nature and the motions of Universal Law. Within the body of Nature and Law there is a soul which must be discovered by great thoughtfulness. And within that soul of Nature and Law there is a spirit which must be sought with great understanding; for verily I say unto you, my brothers, that it is this spirit concealed from the profane but revealed to the thoughtful, which giveth life.”

This, then, is the design of our foundations: that men shall abide together in peace and shall devote their energies to the common cause of discovery.

Man is greater than the animal, not in strength of body, nor in shrewdness, nor in the power of his senses, nor even in skill and patience; man is superior because he contains within himself the faculties and powers by which he can perceive his true place in a divine order of life.

His power lies in his dreams, his visions, and his ideals. If these intangibles are left uncultivated, man is at best but a superior kind of beast, subject to all the ills and vicissitudes of an unenlightened creation.

But, as man has locked within him, hidden from the public gaze, this diviner part, so it is true that human society has within itself concealed from our common view a nobler part composed of the idealists and dreamers of all ages and of all races who have been bound together by their common vision of man’s necessity. This is the secret empire of the poets, this is the order of the Unknown Philosophers, this is the Brotherhood of the Quest.

And never will these dreamers cease their silent working until that dream is perfected in our daily life. They are resolved that the Word which was made flesh shall become the Word made Soul.

The great University of the Six Days Work must be built here in our Western world, to become a guide unto the nations. About this shrine to Universal Truth shall rise the democratic Commonwealth— the wealth of all mankind.

This is the destiny for which we were brought into being. The plan, which was devised in secrecy long ago, and in far places, shall be fulfilled openly … as the greatest wonder born out of time.

Excerpts from the Alice A. Bailey books.

[TWM] Increasingly will people think and talk in terms of light, and the effect of the coming developments in this department of human thought will be triple.

  • People will possess etheric vision.
  • The vital or etheric body, lying as the inner structure of the outer forms, will be seen and noted and studied in all kingdoms of nature.
  • This will break down all barriers of race and all distinctions of color; the essential brotherhood of man will be established. We shall see each other and all forms of divine manifestation as light units of varying degrees of brightness and shall talk and think increasingly in terms of electricity, of voltage, of intensity and of power. The age and status of men, in regard to the ladder of evolution, will be noted and become objectively apparent, the relative capacities of old souls, and young souls will be recognized, thereby re-establishing on earth the rule of the enlightened.

[R&I 746] True Democracy is as yet unknown; it awaits the time when an educated and enlightened public opinion will bring it to power; towards that spiritual event, mankind is hastening. The battle of Democracy will be fought out in the United States. There the people at present vote and organise their government on a personality basis and not from any spiritual or intelligent conviction. There is a material, selfish aspect to Democracy (rampant today), and there is a spiritual aspect, little sought after; there are material and spiritual aspects to Communism, but its adherents know them not, and only a ruthless materialism is conveyed to them.

A State Funeral

Mr. Bush was a gentleman, but he was a politician, too, and therein lay the great tension of his life. “Politics isn’t a pure undertaking — not if you’re going to win, it’s not,” he once told me. “That’s the way politics is, unfortunately.”

https://www.nytimes.com/2018/12/01/opinion/george-hw-bush-death-jon-meacham.html

Mr. Bush’s quote about the need to play dirty in order to gain political power has returned to the public view during his recent state funeral services of “pomp and pageantry.” We all need to pause and ponder on the implications of these words for the externalization of the Hierarchy.

I have been invited to address, at the forthcoming 2019 USR conference, the need to redeem the word “hierarchy,” hijacked from our current political discourse in Western democracies. I have accepted. In fact, it will be a continuation of my 2017 USR talk, summarized and expanded in this blog.

For the spiritual Hierarchy to externalize, as the Plan foresees, the Masters are making preparations to adapt to the physical environment of Humanity (EOH: ASHRAMIC ADJUSTMENT TO EXOTERIC LIVING, 682-701). This includes the field of politics and the need for “a fusion of those principles which govern a democracy and which also condition the hierarchical method.” (see full quote below).

Brexit is an instance of this challenge, as the defeat of Trumpism is for America and the defeat of the extreme political (Fascist)  right is for all Europe and for the entire world.

The Hierarchy must adapt, but Humanity must also evolve as well, if the externalization of the Hierarchy is to successfully unfold as planned, for Light and Love and Power to restore the Plan on Earth, and seal the door where evil dwells.  -JB

EOH
: The preparatory work of externalisation, therefore, falls into three phases or stages, as far as relation to mankind is concerned:

First. The present stage [August 1946] in which a few isolated disciples and initiates, scattered all over the world, are doing [Page 572] the important task of destruction, plus the enunciation of principles. They are preparing the way for the first organised body of disciples and initiates who—coming from certain Ashrams—will proceed with the next phase of the work.

Second. The stage of the first real externalisation upon a large and organised scale will succeed upon the above endeavours. These disciples and initiates will be the real Builders of the new world, of the new civilisation; they will assume leadership in most countries and take high office in all departments of human life. This they will do by the free choice of the people and by virtue of their advanced and proven merit. By this means, gradually the Hierarchy will take over the control upon the physical plane—subjectively as well as objectively—of the direction of human affairs. This direction will be in virtue of their known and approved capacity and will not involve the imposition of any hierarchical control or authority; it will simply signify the free recognition by free people of certain spiritual qualities and effective activities which they believe signify that these men are adequate to the demanded job, and whom they therefore choose as directing agents in the new and coming world. Freedom of choice under the authority of a spiritual livingness which demonstrates competency will be distinctive of the attitude of the general public. Men will be put into high office and into positions of power not because they are disciples or initiates, but because they are wise and intelligent servants of the public, with an internal awareness, a deeply religious and inclusive consciousness, and a well-trained mind with an obedient brain.

This stage of hierarchical appearance is dependent upon the effective service of the first group of isolated and hard-working disciples who are the senior members of the New Group of World Servers and who are today working among the sons of men. This second group will take over from them, and theirs will be the task of instituting a more unified preparation for the return of the Christ. The first group prepare humanity for the possibility; the second group [Page 573] definitely prepare for the return itself. They will build for a future which will arise out of the wreckage of the past, which wreckage they will remove; they will instill certain basic concepts anent right human relations into men’s minds. Their immediate group work, when they are coming into power and recognition, will consist of a sweetening and a clarification of the political situation and the presentation of those ideas which will eventually lead to a fusion of those principles which govern a democracy and which also condition the hierarchical method—which is somewhat different; this effort will produce a third political situation which will not be entirely dependent upon the choices of an unintelligent public or on the control which the hierarchical technique evidently involves. The mode of this new type of political guidance will later appear.

[…]

Groups of spiritually-minded financiers who are conscious members of an Ashram will take hold of the world economic situation and bring about great and needed changes. All these activities, built upon the preparatory work of the first group, are also preparatory in nature.

Third. The stage wherein Christ and the Masters of [Page 574] the Wisdom can make public appearance and begin to work publicly, openly and outwardly in the world of men. The time of Their coming will be dependent upon the success of the work undertaken by the first two groups; it is not possible for me to prophesy anent this matter. So many factors are involved: the earnest work of the two groups, the readiness and the willingness of mankind to learn, the rapidity with which the forces of restoration and of resurrection can rehabilitate the world, the responsiveness of advanced humanitarians and intelligentsia to the opportunity to rebuild, to recreate and to reorganise the factors which the new culture and the new civilisation will demand. Even the Hierarchy Itself, with all Its sources of information, does not know how long this will take, but They are ready to move at any time.

In the meantime, as the first group struggles with the immediate problem in the outer world, and the second group—still within the confines of the Hierarchy Itself—makes due interior preparation and applies to its chosen membership the needed training and the desired reorientation, the Christ and the Masters are occupied with the task of preparing for the restoration of the Mysteries.  ###

THE FOUR FREEDOMS
<EOH 319-320>

January 6, 1941

In the future days, which we seek to make secure, we look forward to a world founded upon four essential human freedoms.

The first is freedom of speech and expression -everywhere in the world.

The second is freedom of every person to worship God in his own way -everywhere in the world.

The third is freedom from want -which, translated into world terms, means economic understandings which will secure to every nation a healthy peacetime life for its inhabitants- everywhere in the world.

The fourth is freedom from fear -which, translated into world terms, means a worldwide reduction of armaments to such a point and in such a thorough fashion that no nation will be in a position to commit an act of physical aggression against any neighbour- anywhere in the world.

Let Light and Love and Power …
Fulfill the purpose of the Coming One.
The WILL to save is here.
The LOVE to carry forth the work is widely spread abroad.
The ACTIVE AID of all who know the truth is also here.
Come forth, O Mighty One, and blend these three.
Construct a great defending wall.
The rule of evil now must end.

More than 35 million early votes have been counted nationwide as of Monday — well more than the 21 million cast in the 2014 midterm elections.

EOH 448: The Hierarchy stands, no longer watching and waiting, but acting today with impelling wisdom and fixed decision in order to strengthen the hands of Their workers in every field of human activity (political, educational and religious) so that they may take right action and correctly influence human thinking. (March 1945)

1/3 DN 54-55: Great Britain is the custodian of the wisdom aspect of this second ray energy for the Aryan race; the United States will fulfil the same office for the world of the immediate future …

2/3 [embodying] the attractive cohesive aspect of the second ray …. and [demonstrating] it through wisdom and right government, based on true idealism and love..

3/3 … The United States represents the intuitive faculty, expressing itself as illumination, plus the power to fuse and blend.

1/2 DN 58: If the idealism of the United States of America can be illumined by the law of love and not by personality self-expression, then the pattern which underlies the structure of the States…

2/2 … may be seen in lines of light and we shall look for future racial light instead of the many separative national lines. At present it is the personality ray of the United States which controls.

EOH 85: In connection with the United States of America, Chicago is the solar plexus centre, whilst New York is the throat centre and Washington the head centre. The heart centre is Los Angeles.

POH 26: America is a great battleground for experiment along creative lines; … The fight between capital and labour will reach its climax in the United States

1/7: Vote to support the spiritual values of Men and Women of Goodwill. These are:
2/7: A Love of Truth – essential for a just, inclusive and progressive society.
3/7: A Sense of Justice – recognition of the rights and needs of all.
4/7: A Spirit of Cooperation – based on active goodwill and the principle of right human relationships.
5/7: A Sense of Personal Responsibility – for group, community, national and international affairs.
6/7: Serving the Common Good – through the sacrifice of selfishness. Only what is good for all is good for each one.
7/7: These are spiritual values, inspiring the conscience and the consciousness of those who serve to create a better way of life.

1/2 EOH 587: The intuition of the disciple is alert and active; the new ideas and the vital fresh concepts are foremost in his mind. He almost automatically…
2/2 …repudiates the reactionary and conservative thinking of the past and—without fanaticism and undue emphasis—he lives, talks and instructs along the new lines of right human relations.

RI 350:… evil and good are reverse aspects of the same one reality, and evil is that good which we should have left behind, passing on to greater and more inclusive good.

1/5 DN 11: Three of these streams of energy are working powerfully in the world at this time and two others are struggling for expression. Of these latter, one is struggling towards domination…

2/5: … and the other is struggling to hold on to that which it has so long controlled. This refers to the incoming seventh ray and the outgoing sixth ray.

3/5: They constitute, in their duality, the reactionary and the progressive forces which are seeking to govern human thought, to determine natural and human evolution…

4/5: …and to produce widely divergent civilisations and culture — one of which would be the perpetuation and crystallisation of that which now exists

5/5 …and the other would be so entirely new, as an outgrowth of the present world upheaval, that it is difficult for the average student to conceive of its nature.

1/3: DN 29: Suffice it to say that the sixth ray people are the reactionaries, the conservatives, the die-hards and the fanatics, who hold on to all that is of the past …

2/3: … and whose influence is potent to hinder the progress of humanity into the new age. … They provide, however, a needed balance …

3/3: … and are responsible for a steadying process which is much needed in the world at this time.

ENA:  It is difficult for modern man to conceive of a time when there will be no racial, national or separative religious consciousness present in human thinking. It was equally difficult for prehistoric man to conceive of a time when there would be national thinking and this is a good thing for us to bear in mind. The time when humanity will be able to think in universal terms still lies far ahead but the fact that we can speak of it, desire it and plan for it is surely the guarantee that it is not impossible. Humanity has always progressed from stage to stage of enlightenment and from glory to glory.

1/4 ENA 90: We are today on our way to a far better civilisation than the world has ever known and towards conditions which will ensure a much happier humanity …

2/4: … and which will see the end of national differences, of class distinctions … and which will ensure a fuller and richer life for everyone.

3/4: It will be obvious that very many decades must elapse before such a state of affairs will be actively present—but it will be decades and not centuries,

4/4: … if humanity can learn the lessons of war and if the reactionary and the conservative peoples in every nation can be prevented from swinging civilisation back on to the bad old lines.

1/6: But a beginning can immediately be made. Simplicity should be our watchword for it is simplicity which will kill our old materialistic way of living.

2/6: Cooperative goodwill is surely the first idea to be presented to the masses and taught in our schools, thereby guaranteeing the new and better civilisation.

3/6: Loving understanding, intelligently applied, should be the hallmark of the cultured and wiser groups,…

4/6: …plus effort on their part to relate the world of meaning to the world of outer efforts —for the benefit of the masses.

5/6: World Citizenship as an expression of both goodwill and understanding should be the goal of the enlightened everywhere and the hallmark of the spiritual man,

6/6: …and in these three, you have right relations established between education, religion and politics.-ENA 90-91

All the work being done now is definitely transitional work and therefore most difficult. It infers a bridging process between the old and the new, and would present almost insuperable difficulties were it not for the fact that the coming two generations will bring in those types of egos who are competent to deal with the problem. Upon this fact those of you who are concerned with the educational system and situation, and who are bewildered by the presented vision and by the task of approximating the cherished possibilities, must rest back with confidence. Clear thinking, much love and a sense of true compromise (note this phrase) will do much to lay the needed foundations and keep the door of the [Page 92] future wide open. A balancing process is going forward in this interim period, and to it the modern educator should pay due attention.

1/2: Lions’ Roar Magazine (6 NOV 2018) on Mindful Politics: If the Buddha had a political platform, it might go something like this:

2/2: “May all beings be free from suffering and the causes of suffering. May they all enjoy happiness and the fruits of happiness.”

This is not simply a spiritual aspiration. It is the ultimate goal of government. The debate over how to achieve it is called politics.

By the measure of suffering and happiness, this is the most important political moment of our lifetime. The very direction of democracy and society is in the balance, both in the U.S. and in countries around the world. We need every bit of strength, courage, skill, and compassion we can muster. We also need self-care, healing, and a sense of community and solidarity. Buddhism can help with all of these.

1/2 TWM 634: There is no such thing as failure; there can only be loss of time…

2/2 The sense of time produces glamour and disappointment, whereas the work goes truly [Page 635] forward, and a lesson learnt by failure acts as a safeguard for the future.

There is a civil war  between rural and urban America in need of another Lincoln to heal the country, after definitely defeating what Master D.K. has called “the reactionary and the conservative peoples in every nation [attempting to] swing civilisation back on to the bad old lines.”

Voter suppression and gerrymandering still limit the capacity of the 60% of the country that, according to the exit polls, oppose the agenda of the ultraconservative rural white male nationalistic movement.  Battleground-state Dems who opposed Supreme Court justice Kavanaugh were all defeated.

Significant inroads were made by moderate progressives in Red States while more radical progressives won in urban areas. There is still much work to do in finding a unifying vision of America for the Resistance to defeat the reactionary and the conservative M.A.G.A. movement attempting to swing the USA “back on to the bad old lines.”

NYT: Trump Backlash

Democrats harnessed voter fury to win control of the House and capture pivotal governorships, delivering a forceful rebuke of President Trump.

An array of diverse candidates — many of them women, first-time contenders or both — ended the Republican Party’s eight-year grip on the chamber.

But in an indication that the country’s political and cultural divisions may only be deepening, the Democratic gains did not extend to the Senate.

“Their loss of the House also served unmistakable notice on Republicans that the rules of political gravity still exist in the Trump era. What was effectively a referendum on Mr. Trump’s incendiary conduct and hard-right nationalism may make some of the party’s lawmakers uneasy about linking themselves to a president who ended the campaign showering audiences with a blizzard of mistruths, conspiracy theories and invective about immigrants.

“The Democrats’ broad gains in the House, and their capture of several powerful governorships, in many cases represented a vindication of the party’s more moderate wing. The candidates who delivered the House majority largely hailed from the political center, running on clean-government themes and promises of incremental improvement to the health care system rather than transformational social change.

“Yet the theory — embraced by hopeful liberals in states like Texas and Florida — that charismatic and unapologetically progressive leaders might transmute Republican bastions into purple political battlegrounds, proved largely fruitless. Though there were signs that demographic change was loosening Republicans’ grip on the Sun Belt, those changes did not arrive quickly enough for candidates like Mr. Gillum and Mr. O’Rourke. And the Democratic collapse in rural areas that began to plague their candidates under President Obama worsened Tuesday across much of the political map.”

CNNHouse Democrats ascendant, set to check Trump’s power

The opposite trends in the House and the Senate underscored a political and cultural gulf among diverse and affluent liberals living in big cities and their suburbs and the mostly, white, working class and rural conservative bloc of voters for whom Trump remains an iconic figure.

CNN: President Donald Trump demolished the “blue wall” in the Great Lakes region two years ago. On Tuesday night, Democrats rebuilt it.

The party’s candidates won races for governor and the Senate in the three states that delivered Trump the presidency — Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.

The recipe for a Democratic comeback in the Great Lakes region was straightforward. Candidates largely ignored Trump. Instead, they focused on health care as well as bread-and-butter budget issues like funding for schools, roads and infrastructure.

Planetary Photosynthesis

by José Becerra

Photosynthesis is a fundamental fact in Nature.

H2O + CO2    LIGHT  è  O2 + Glucose

We may associate:

  • water (the universal solvent) with love;
  • carbon (a vital source of energy) with the will which transforms organic substance into diamonds, symbols of power;
  • oxygen (vital to human life) with the negation (oxidation) of evil, that is, the synthesis of good; and
  • glucose (starch) with the peace of right human relations, through which the Earth’s resources, the bread, can be justly shared.

These intuitive insights may reveal a spiritual formula of the most fundamental process in Nature as it relates to Humanity’s planetary service.

The human kingdom has a spiritual function similar to that of the angels in the (lab)oratory of Nature we call the vegetable kingdom. The Great Invocation is the formula describing this vital process whereby Humanity fulfills its “psycho-synthetic” function in the planetary ecology.

In this process of Planetary Psychosynthesis, the Soul of One Humanity invokes the Light, the Love and the Energy or Power emanating from the spiritual Sun, to produce Right Relations, human and planetary. The very righteousness of these relations seals the door to evil, thus restoring the Divine Order, the Plan of Goodwill, on Earth.

The Great Invocation

From the point of Light within the Mind of God
Let light stream forth into human minds.
Let Light descend on Earth.

From the point of Love within the Heart of God
Let love stream forth into human hearts.
May the Coming One return to Earth.

From the center where the Will of God is known
Let purpose guide all little human wills –
The purpose which the Masters know and serve.

From the center which we call the human race
Let the Plan of Love and Light work out
And may it seal the door where evil dwells.

Let Light and Love and Power restore the Plan on Earth.

This year we dedicate the Pan American World Invocation Day to the sealing of the door to the evil of demagogy, the corruption of democracy resulting from totalitarian tendencies of authoritarian governments promoting a “post-truth world,” both in Latin America and in the United States of America.

Let us seal –everywhere– the door where evil dwells!

Phillip Roth on Donald Trump

Phillip Roth on Donald Trump

“A massive fraud, the evil sum of his deficiencies, devoid of everything but the hollow ideology of a megalomaniac.”

“Humanly impoverished” and “ignorant of government, history, of science of philosophy of art, incapable of expressing or recognizing subtlety or nuance” and “destitute of all decency”.

[JB] Trump is not the cause of the current malaise in our democratic system. When personal and partisan self-interest trumps the common good, then the corruption of democracy is inevitable.

When the majority of the citizens in a country is willing to trade off the values of the common good for the price of personal material goods, then the problem is not the demagogue taking advantage of the opportunity but the materialism suffocating the spiritual life of the country.

A dying country cannot always be resuscitated by a new leadership. JFK, MLK and Robert Kennedy were assassinated five decades ago for attempting to resume Lincoln’s mission, as were Carter and Obama, not with bullets but with regressive obstructionism.

A dying country may need to rise from the ashes, reborn like the Phoenix. A worldwide economic collapse may accomplish this collective transition, if  planet Earth still remains to live in after hurricane Trump.

The latent seeds of racist fascism and divisive self-interest must die before a country can rise again to lead the world in the quest for goodness, beauty and truth. We need to make the world good, beautiful and true, again.  –José Becerra
